One of my primary interests is to explore how culture and early parental practices jointly influence later child socio-emotional, behavioural development. I have been working with different Western and non-Western population (i.e. UK, Italy, India, South Africa, Gambia, Ethiopia, El Salvador).

Another of my research interests includes looking at maternal mental health from pregnancy to the postnatal period and its effect on the relationship with their children and their development. I am now working on a cross-cultural project which look at risk and protective factors (e.g. depression, anxiety, partner violence, social support) in two samples, one from the UK and one from India. The project involves investigating the impact on these factors on behavioural and emotional outcomes in children as well as the quality of interaction between them and their mothers and other significant caregivers.

Another of my research interests includes child emotional development (particularly looking at management of frustration and fear) and the cultural, temperamental and environmental factors that might influence it.
