About

Personal Statement

I am a Clinical Lecturer (NIHR) in Neurology and a Specialist Registrar in Neurology at the Walton Centre in Liverpool. I work on autoimmune disorders of the central nervous system and central nervous system infections. In particular, I focus on improving the diagnosis of encephalitis, a devastating neurological condition characterised by inflammation of the brain.

I trained in medicine at the University of Cambridge (Trinity Hall 2005-2011) with an intercalated degree in Neuroscience. I completed Foundation Training in Cambridge and then moved to Liverpool as an Academic Clinical Fellow in Neurology. In 2016 I was awarded a Clinical Research Training Fellowship from the Association of British Neurologists and completed my PhD at the University of Liverpool, supervised by Professor Tom Solomon. I became an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Neurology in 2021. I was awarded the Royal College of Physicians Specialty Certificate in Neurology in 2022.

I am Vice Chair of Trustees of the Encephalitis Society, a charity supporting people affected by Encephalitis.
