I completed a BSc degree with a major in Neurosciences, followed by an MSc in Immunology (Marseille, France). I graduated with a PhD in Food Science (peptide-Immunotherapy in allergy) at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, in the research group of Prof Yoshinori Mine. I then worked in the laboratory of Dr Yihong Wan as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Pharmacology at the UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas on the topic of lipid-mediated inflammation. I was subsequently recruited to the research group of Dr Ed Lavelle, School of Biochemistry and Immunology, Trinity College Dublin, to explore the vaccine applications of nanoparticulate materials. In April 2012, my genuine interest in oral pathogens brought me to join the group of Prof Aras Kadioglu.
