NIMHANS, Bangalore, India
National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore, India, (NIMHANS), is a multidisciplinary Institute for patient care and academic pursuit in the frontier area of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences. Multidisciplinary integrated approach is the mainstay of this Institute, paving the way to translate the results from bench to bedside.
The University of Liverpool and NIMHANS work in conjunction to offer a dual PhD programme which starts in either India or Liverpool with either a pre-PhD (NIMHANS), or MRes (University of Liverpool). Successful completion of the pre-PhD or MRes leads on to being enrolled on a PhD with both the University of Liverpool and NIMHANS.
Pattern and Length of Study
The pre-PhD or MRes will take 1 year. The PhD will only be funded for 3 years but the student may use up to 1 additional year for writing up (self-funded).
Students starting in the University of Liverpool: MRes, 1st and 2nd year PhD at NIMHANS, 3rd year PhD in University of Liverpool
Students starting in NIMHANS: Pre-PhD at NIMHANS, 1st and 2nd year PhD at University of Liverpool, 3rd year PhD at NIMHANS
Students will have one supervisor from each Institution
Tuition fees and stipend
Tuition fees for 4 years study and a stipend for 4 years in total are available for successful applicants
