The Institute marked International Women's Day last week with a guest lecture about women in leadership by the Guardian’s Harriet Minter.

Over 200 people attended the free event at the Victoria Gallery & Museum, which was hosted by Institute Director Professor Tom Solomon and the University's Athena Swan Director Professor Sue Wray. The event also profiled and celebrated seven high-achieving female academics from across the University.

Harriet, who is the editor of the Guardian’s Women in Leadership section, spoke about some of her experiences interviewing high profile female women, including founder of the Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington and former CEO of M&C Saatchi, Carrie Hindmarsh. Some of her top tips learnt from these inspiring females include ‘saying yes’ to all opportunities and recognising that to be a good leader you need help from others.
