The British Society of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology is 50 years old this year.  It was founded in 1958 and held its first meeting in London under the Presidency of Sydney Blackman

To celebrate its golden anniversary, a special meeting will take place on 25th and 26th of September 2008 at the Natural History Museum in London. 

The Society has been fortunate that a number of eminent international speakers have agreed to speak to help commemorate this event, including Bob Langlais (USA) - Imaging soft tissue cysts of the head & neck

Sharon Brooks (USA) - TMJ imaging: the new and the tried and true

Reinhilde Jacobs (Belgium) – CBCT dose and image quality

Kostas Tsiklakis (Greece) - CBCT imaging of benign and malignant jaw lesions

Lennart Flygare (Sweden) - Imaging paranasal sinus disease

As well as speakers from closer to home including Dr David Brettle, Dr Georgina Burke, Dr Ian Francis, Prof Keith Horner, Dr Jane Luker and Prof Mark McGurk.

Topics to be covered include CBCT; its application, selection criteria and its value in diagnosing and assessing pathological disorders.

There will also be talks on facial pain, salivary gland and paranasal disease, vascular lesions and imaging in immunocompromised patients.

The Venue

 

The Natural History Museum, built in 1881 is one of London’s most iconic museums and an architectural marvel.  Dinosaurs, volcanoes, precious gems, creepy crawlies, even radiologists - as a visitor to The Natural History Museum you will be amazed by the diversity of our natural world.

On Thursday 25th September at 9.00am:

Enter the Natural History Museum via the Earth Galleries (Red Zone) Entrance on Exhibition Road.

The Flett Lecture Theatre is on the First Floor, with lift and stair access.

The museum entrance on Exhibition Road will be open from 8.30am for access to the conference venue. The Main Entrance (at front) does not open until 10.00am.
