Computer Access

In the HALL OF RESIDENCE there is NO WIRELESS connection. However each bedroom has an

ethernet connection for which you would need to bring YOUR OWN CABLE. This allows connection to the

University of Liverpool network, for which we can provide a guest login on request. HOWEVER

note that the university's network is very fussy about the level of security which your laptop enjoys

and it is possible that you will need to download additional software in order to use the network via ethernet.

The security requirements can be checked in advance with a scan: see http://www.liv.ac.uk/csd/connect/nac/

In the HALL OF RESIDENCE there are also 9 fixed terminals from which you can access

the university's network with a guest login.

In the UNIVERSITY there is the wireless network eduroam. You will need to ensure that your

laptop or wifi device has the necessary software to allow access to this international network;

this is normally obtained from your home university, provided your home university does subscribe to

eduroam. You then log in with your home university username and password.

Non Eduroam users please request a Guestnet account from the organizers.

A laptop can be automatically configured for Eduroam in advance: see  http://wireless.liv.ac.uk/

In the UNIVERSITY building where the conference will be held there are also about 50

fixed terminals which you can use together with a guest login which will be provided on request.

Note that one guest login may be shared by several participants (this still allows their simultaneous use of the login).
