EPSRC Overseas Travel Grant GR/S48967/01

Algebraic geometry has always been an international activity and, if anything, this tendency is increasing. Moreover it has ever-expanding links with other areas of mathematics and other disciplines. While much of the joint work that this involves can be carried out by email, personal contacts are also important, as is participation in conferences and other meetings.

This grant assisted the investigator with the expenses for a five-week visit to Spain and Portugal. I was able to continue work on a joint research programme with colleagues in Madrid, to give invited talks at conferences in Seville and Salamanca, to participate as chair of the Scientific Committee at a further conference in Oporto and to give a research seminar in Lisbon.
