Structures of uranyl (UO22+) complexes

The UO22+ ion (like other actinyl ions) forms many complexes. The O=U=O unit is persistent and remains as an intact entity after complex formation.

UO22+ is readily hydrolysed in aqueous solution to form oligomers such as [(UO2)3O(OH)3(H2O)6]
