Using Hot Potatoes

Hot Potatoes is a Java generated quiz creating piece of software. You can download it from the following address:

The size of the programme is 3.2 MB.

It downloads as a ‘zip file’ so you will need Winzip to unpack (unzip) it. Winzip can also be downloaded. Here are two other sites where you can get both Hot Potatoes and Winzip for free:

Hot Potatoes comprises these activity types:

JVC: This is a multiple choice question design activity.

JMIX: This is a jumbled sentence writing activity.

JQUIZ: This is an open-ended quiz writing activity when there is more than one possible answer to a question.

JCROSS: This is a crossword writing activity.

JCLOZE: This activity generates a cloze test

JMATCH: This is a matching activity.

JMATCH: You can also design ordering activities with JMATCH

Note – it is important to register Hot Potatoes when you get it – otherwise you will only be able to use a limited version. No charge is made for registration.
