SKIDDED MOTOR-CAR SEQUEL.
Mr. W. Lyndon Moore, the borough coroner, held an inquest at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, on Friday concerning the death of Jesse Smith (42), manager of the Blackwood (Mon.) Motor Company, who, while riding a motor-cycle between Pentwynmawr and Pontllanfraith on December 16, collided with a motor-car driven by Mr. H. Hatcher, Hillside, Bargoed. He sustained a compound fracture of the right leg, which had to be amputated at the Royal Gwent Hospital, where he died on Christmas Day.
Mr. Hatcher, who was represented by Mr. D. E. S. Brown (Messrs. Lewis Morgan and Brown), Cardiff, said the accident happened as the result of the greasy state of the road, which caused the car to skid, so that the steering gear would not act successfully.
A verdict was recorded that deceased died from septicemia following injuries received from the accident.
