Flintshire Observer 5 Aug 1897:

MOSTYN. UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT TO A STEAMSHIP. On Saturday last, an unfortunate accident happened to the steamship Trecheive[sic], from Carthagena with iron ore. The steamship had 2,000 tons of iron ore, of which it had been enlightened in the deeps to the extent of 800 tons. It was then sought to bring the Trecheive to the quay to complete the discharging, and while so doing it fouled the bank on entering the gutter, and lodging there as the tide went out the stern sank, and the back of the vessel broke. During the subsequent tides the breach widened, and it is feared that the steamer will become a wreck. The gutter is at present blocked.

The vessel was indeed wrecked and no longer registered. The Trekieve was broken up in situ. A new vessel of the same name was built and launched in July 1898.
