Liverpool Biochemistry Centenary Meeting

Programme Committee Meeting Friday 19 November 1999

Present: Prof. Huw Rees (chair), Dr Andy Bates, Prof. Julian Crampton, Dr Sandy McLennan, Prof. Philip Rudland, Dr Mike White.

1. Apologies were received from Dr Dave Fernig and Prof. Malcolm Jackson.

2. Minutes of the meeting of ‘November 11 1999 were accepted.

3. Matters arising

3 - 3(i) Biochemical Society HHR confirmed that the details of the meeting had been entered in the Biochemical Society’s list.

3 - 3(ii) Accommodation HHR confirmed that all the accommodation previously discussed is booked provisionally for the whole of the relevant week

4. Programme (continued)

A number of corrections and additions were made to the potential speakers:

AGM Jeff McIlhinney, Oxford Cognitive Neuroscience

PSR Hiroshi Fujii - Nagata PPARg

Kliewer, Lehmann - Glaxo, NC, USA

AGM Alfred Gilman - potential plenary

A more appropriate ordering of the potential colloquia was proposed, along with one or two name changes:

It was agreed that the final decision as to who will take the lead in each of the colloquia will be left until the meeting of interested groups. The latest list of speakers will be posted on the Web site shortly.

Mike Fisher and Chris Green have been canvassed for their views of the overall balance of the meeting. They were happy that the coverage was comprehensive, and could not identify any major omissions.

13.00 - 14.00 Lunch

17.15 - 18.15 Name Lecture

This makes a total of 9 plenary lectures and 54 colloquium lectures (6 per colloquium)

 

5. Letter/email to Groups

Suggested revisions to a draft letter to the Biochemical Society Groups were made. HHR and ADB will find the names of the Group Chairs and Secretaries, and send the letter as soon as possible.
