Standard Z-DNA

(Z-DNA.pdb)

On the left is a 12 bp stretch of standard Z-DNA, generated using a computer program from standard coordinates. Click and drag in the window to rotate the structure in real time. If you need to find out more about manipulating the structure, which is generated by a Plugin called Chime, go to the following description of How to use Chime.

The buttons below allow you to manipulate the structure in specific ways.

Those at the top are generic for any structure, and allow you to rotate the structure in 90 degree increments, and to change the display of the atoms. The Reset button allows you to start again if everything goes horribly wrong!

In the centre is a set of colour buttons for you to colour in all or part of the structure for emphasis, for example, having 'selected' a portion of it.

At the bottom are buttons specific for this structure, which allow you to select the strands, the bases, or the backbone, for example, or to view them alone. The buttons colour coded, and labelled 1 & 2 must be used in that order.

At any point you can click-drag to rotate the structure. Remember, if in doubt, press Reset.
