The two partners
The development of XJTLU has been underpinned by a partnership between the University of Liverpool and Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU).
The University of Liverpool is one of the UK's leading research-intensive universities and is associated with nine Nobel Laureates, including the first awarded in the UK in 1902.
As part of its commitment to 'invest, collaborate, grow', the University of Liverpool has sought to forge innovative international partnerships and enhance its global presence.
Xi'an Jiaotong University is a first-tier research-intensive university. In 2000, the Chinese government selected it as one of nine universities which would be supported to become world-class institutions as part of its 'Project 211'. Collaboration between XJTU and the University of Liverpool started as far back as 1980.
