1. START DATES, FLIGHTS AND ARRIVALS

What will my start date be?

Teaching for all undergraduate programmes will begin with a Welcome Week on Monday 20th September with programme teaching starting the following week. Welcome Week will begin will include a varied programme of virtual and on-campus activities to help students settle in, meet other new students and enhance their study and language skills ready for programme teaching to begin on 27th September.

Can I start my programme online?

The University is planning an on-campus/in-person start to the next academic year operating within safety guidelines, and we are not planning an online option. We do appreciate, however, that for visa or flight reasons, some students will find it difficult to get to the UK to have completed any required isolation by 27 September and, where possible, some provision will be made to support students online for the first few weeks of teaching. The dates by which students need to be present on campus to start classes in person will be confirmed by subject area and published on our the website. Students are reminded that they should allow enough time to arrive and complete their isolation by these published dates.

Will the University organise an airport transfer service?

This will be confirmed at a later date. We are reviewing this service and will contact confirmed offer holders if this is available. The most up-to-date information will be available on our dedicated Meet and Greet website.

2. ADMISSIONS, VISAS AND REGISTRATION

When will my place (admission) be confirmed?

Your assessment results will automatically be sent by XJTLU to Liverpool and successful students will have their place confirmed in July or after resits in August.

Can I decide for myself when I want to apply for the UK visa?

The 2+2 team will guide you as to the best process and time to apply for your visa. When your place has been confirmed, the University will be in a position to support your application for a UK visa by submitting your details to the UKVI for a Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). You will use the unique number on this CAS to apply for your visa but this must be done at the appropriate time according to when you intend to arrive in Liverpool. See latest dates for arrival by programme above.

Please rest assured that the 2+2 team will contact you to provide you with the relevant advice and documents needed for this process.

When do I complete my academic registration?

You will need to register for your programme during September. You will receive email communications inviting you to complete the registration process on Liverpool Life. You can find out more about your registration process our here

Can I suspend my studies/take a gap year?

It is possible to take a 1-year break from your studies. You can find detailed information about the suspension process at Liverpool here. Please note that the information you see here applies to students that are already registered at Liverpool; in other words, this information provided on the webpage assumes you are already registered at Liverpool and assumes that your department can already see your full records. However, for new 2+2 students (September 2021 entry), your registration will begin in September. This means that if you intend to contact your department and apply for suspension, please wait until after you have completed your registration on Liverpool Life first so that your department can see your full record; if you contact your department before you have completed your registration in September they may not be able to see your complete records yet.

4. HEALTH, WELL-BEING AND STUDENT SUPPORT

Will I pay for medical services in the UK?

As part of your visa application process, you will need to pay an International Health Surcharge. Once this is paid and your visa is granted, you will receive free healthcare in the UK (excluding some services that carry a small charge, such as; prescriptions, dental treatment and eye tests). You can read more about the surcharge here: https://www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigration-application. In the unfortunate even that you require admission to hospital, you will receive all of the necessary care - including meals - for the duration, and will not pay any additional charges for this. The university should be informed so that any necessary support can be arranged.

Will the International Health Surcharge (IHS) cover me if I get COVID-19?

Yes, students will be covered for most tests and treatments. See the NHS website for more information https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/visiting-or-moving-to-england/visitors-who-do-not-need-pay-for-nhs-treatment/

Should I buy extra health insurance?

It is always advisable to buy travel insurance that covers health during the time of travel, but additional health insurance isn’t needed whilst in the UK as the NHS health surcharge covers most conditions. You’ll still need to pay for certain types of services, such as prescriptions, dental treatment and eye tests. For more information, please see: https://www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigration-application
