Our academics are at the forefront of their discipline and we are ranked top in the UK for research excellence. Our £23 million Central Teaching Laboratories offer a unique environment for the study of physical sciences. Chemistry occupies the top floor, which houses synthetic chemistry and physical chemistry labs with new equipment for a wide range of experiments. Our new £68 million ‘Materials Innovation Factory’ is a state-of-the-art materials chemistry research hub funded in collaboration with Unilever and the UK Government.

Environmental Science students are taught by all academics within the School of Environmental Sciences as they can study all aspects of the subject including; Earth Surface Processes; Ecology and Environment; Oceans; Society, Sustainability and the Environment and Digital Environment. Students have access to and use of the award winning Central Teaching Laboratories and will be taught by world leading researchers with expertise in environmental change, ecology, earth sciences and oceanography.

At Liverpool, our programmes are designed with the needs of employers in mind, to give you a solid foundation from which you may take your career in any number of directions. 

Employers tell us that, alongside key problem solving skills, they want strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team, so we have ensured that these are integral to our mathematics programmes. As a result, we have an excellent graduate employment record. About a third of graduates become business and finance professionals; but there is a whole host of other careers which our graduates have found success in such as management training, information technology, further education or training (including teacher training), scientific research and development, and many more.

It is really great to study in University of Liverpool. There are many interesting things, among which the most impressive one is the experience of the club. I joined the Ministry of Culture of the Chinese Society, and we held Chinese classes many times. I came into contact with a lot of lovely people and made many friends, which added color to my college life. Not only that, but the professors here are also very friendly, you can ask them for any academic questions. Some teachers even connect the knowledge points of different subjects to make us understand more deeply. I cherish the life in UoL very much.
