The University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS) seeks to appoint an outstanding academic as Subject Group Head and Chair in the newly-formed Marketing Group.  Reporting to the Dean, Professor Julia Balogun, the Head will serve on the School Management Team and contribute to the development of the School’s strategy.


AACSB-accredited and with its full-time MBA ranked in the Economist top 100, ULMS is an international management school based in an enterprising and vibrant, world city of culture.


Formed in 2002, with significant ongoing investment from the University, and led by the Dean, Professor Julia Balogun, the School is well positioned to further enhance its national and international standing, giving particular emphasis over the next period to developing world-class research activity. The Subject Group Head will provide strong vision and leadership on research across the Group and take responsibility for the delivery of a high quality, research-connected curriculum, as well as leading on recruitment for the Group. 

The key requirements of the role are: excellent research leadership credentials and the ability to set clear academic objectives; an outstanding track-record of publications; a strong network of contacts in the international academic community; and, success in research-led curriculum development, and in delivering and overseeing the provision of high quality teaching programmes. 

The appointee will be recognised internationally as a leader in their field and will be expected to bring outstanding research and education contributions to the Group. 

The role of Subject Group Head will be for five years initially and will be offered in combination with a permanent post at Professorial level. Salary will be internationally competitive, commensurate with the appointee’s potential.


Short-listed candidates will be invited to give a presentation to the School on Monday, 18 February 2019 and meet academic colleagues. Formal interviews will take place at the University on Tuesday, 19 February 2019
