The University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS) is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic leader as Subject Group Head and Chair in Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship (SIBE). Since the Group’s creation in 2016, the School’s reputation in the field of Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship has grown rapidly, with the Subject Group now having nine professors, including the School Dean, and nineteen members at the level of Reader, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer, supported by nine others on the teaching and scholarship pathway. Group members have published in leading journals in the field including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Organization Science, Journal of Business Venturing, and Journal of Management Studies, as well as holding editorial / board roles with such journals. The appointee will succeed the current Head, who has been appointed to a Deanship.

Its 200 academic staff enjoy a highly collegial and interdisciplinary environment and the School is at the forefront of the University’s commitment to research excellence, succeeding against its vision of global connectivity, transformational research and education, and knowledge leadership.
Reporting to the School Dean, the Group Head will serve on the School Management Team and lead the Subject Group in delivering a world-class environment for research, education, and the student experience. Faculty recruitment will be a key responsibility.
The key requirements of the role are: excellent research leadership credentials and the ability to set clear academic objectives; an outstanding track-record of publications in a subject area represented in the Group – Strategy, International Business, Entrepreneurship and Innovation; a strong network of contacts in the international academic community; and, success in research-led curriculum development, and in delivering and overseeing the provision of high quality teaching programmes and an outstanding student experience.
The role of Subject Group Head will be for five years initially and will be offered in combination with a permanent post at Professorial level. Salary will be internationally competitive, commensurate with the appointee’s standing and potential.
