Academic Tutors

Supporting widening participation students on outreach programmes

Academic tutors are members of University staff or postgraduate students with teaching experience and are crucial to the overall success of the Liverpool Scholars and Realising Opportunities programmes. The academic tutor role is incredibly rewarding, and carries with it a real responsibility, as it is successful completion of the academic assignment which helps to determine whether the students gain the benefits associated with the Liverpool Scholars and Realising Opportunities programmes.
Each academic tutor is assigned between 1 and 5 students, depending on the demand for their subject areas, which ensures the time commitment is manageable.
We would also ask that academic tutors provide ongoing light-touch communication with students over email as necessary.  Exact dates for tutorials and communications should be set between student and tutor at a mutually convenient time.
As recognition of the time spent supporting students, each academic tutor receives a payment for each student they work with.
