New residents in veterinary clinical microbiology

We are excited to share that our new residents have recently began their residency training in clinical microbiology under the European College of Veterinary Microbiology (ECVM). Dr Sian Marie Frosini from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in London commenced her Alternate Programme towards the end of 2025 and will be split between the microbiology services at RVC and the University of Liverpool, whilst Ece Eskimez took on her Standard Residency training at our University of Liverpool laboratory in January 2026. These new additions to our team reflect our ongoing commitment to advancing veterinary microbiology expertise and research at European level and beyond.

VetCLIN AMR project funding renewal (VMD/PLI 2026-2028)

We are pleased to announce that our project has received additional funding from the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) under the Private Laboratories Initiative (PLI) for the period 2026–2028. This will enable us to continue advancing our research and services in veterinary diagnostic laboratory harmonisation and surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in companion animal clinical isolates.

Launch of second VetCLIN AMR proficiency testing round (February/March 2026)

We are pleased to announce the upcoming launch of our second proficiency testing round, which will soon be open for participation. This round will expand to include not only small animal microbiology laboratories but also equine-only microbiology labs, providing valuable insights and benchmarks for both sectors.

ECVM Conference 2026 – Registration and call for abstracts open

Registration and the call for abstracts are now open for the 8th International Conference of the European College of Veterinary Microbiology (ECVM), which will be held in Surrey this September 2026.
