Be adaptable and positive when faced with challenges
My placement year in early 2020 at First Mile Technologies in Toronto, Canada had to be cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It had been a fantastic experience and I was able to travel around Canada and the United States meeting many influential people. I got a great insight into how corporate life works and what is expected from you in the real-life workplace.
My placement being cut short was disappointing, but once back home I took on a job at my local Co-Op. I’d never worked in a shop before so it was a huge challenge, it took a few shifts to get used to the way things worked, but I developed skills I never thought I had and I can honestly say it’s been one of my favourite jobs so far.
