Antonella qualified at University of Bari (Italy), and completed post-graduate specialist clinical and research training in Neurology at University of Bari (Italy) and at University College of London (UCL).
She is movement disorders specialist with special interest in Parkinson's disease, Dystonia, Tourette’s Syndrome and functional movement disorders.
She was an Honorary Clinical Assistant in the Botulinum Toxin Clinic for Movement Disorders, NHNN, London, UK (Supervisor: Prof. Kailash P. Bhatia, September 2012- September 2013).
She had a training in functional movement disorders as Honorary Clinical Assistant in the Functional Movement Disorders Clinic, NHNN,, London, UK (Supervisor: Prof. Mark J Edwards, September 2012-June 2015).
During her training, she shaped her clinical and research skills in Neurophysiology. She was keen to use neurophysiological techniques (EEG, EMG) to investigate the pathophysiology of movement disorders.
She worked as an Honorary Research Associate in the Sobell Department of Motor Neuroscience and Movement Disorders, Institute of Neurology, Faculty of Brain Sciences, UCL, London, UK (Supervisor: Dr James M Kilner, September 2012-May 2015).
After completing her training in Neurology (May 2015), she started the position as Clinical Research Associate and PhD Candidate in Neuroscience in Prof. Kilner’s lab at UCL. She awarded her PhD entitled “The role of sensory afference in Parkinson's disease" in June 2018.
In June 2015, she joined the Deep Brain Stimulation Unit for Movement Disorders, NHNN, London, UK. She has worked in this Unit as Honorary Clinical Assistant under the supervision of Prof. Limousin until June 2018. She has been actively involved in all stages of clinical activities dedicated to patients referred for the DBS, from the assessment and selection to the programming and, then, follow up in the outpatient clinics.

Antonella has joined the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust (Liverpool, UK) as Consultant Neurologist in Movement Disorders in July 2018. She run busy clinics dedicated to several types of Movement Disorders as well as clinics dedicated to the Movement Disorders patients treated with DBS.
In 2021, she has founded and co-leads the Tourette’s Disease Clinic together with Dr Da Costa, Consultant Neuropsychiatrist.
She is also currently part of the team dedicated to the use of MRgFUS to treat essential tremor.

Antonella is Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at University of Liverpool and she is delivering several teaching activities for the University of Liverpool including supervising RS3 projects, SAMP rotations and MRes students.
She is the coordinator of undergraduate research for the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust.
She is Educational Supervisor of Medical Students of UoL.

Antonella has achieved several awards including the prestigious International Scholarship Award of the American Academy of Neurology (2015), the Investigator Award of the European Academy of Neurology (2016) and Leadership Program of the Movement Disorders Society (2019).
