The module aims to build students’ proficiency in areas of financial accounting, management and financial management – and to be able to apply this learning in real-life business environments. Students will study the different financial statements produced by businesses, and will appreciate the usefulness and limitations of such information. In addition to studying how financial statements are produced, students will explore techniques, such as ratio analysis, to interpret business performance. Within the management accounting theme, students will also explore different types of budgeting, and how the budget setting process is linked to strategy.
Students will mainly focus on capital investment appraisal within the financial management theme, although there will be exposure to the funding decisions and dividend decisions taken by companies.
