Cell Sorting and Isolation

Refurbished, expanded and upgraded

Housed in a spacious, newly refurbished suite of laboratories our cell sorting and isolation facilities contains an impressive array of technologies for sorting, characterising and isolating cell populations.

As might be expected, the facility enables states of the art Fluorescent Activated Cell Sorting (FACS) and Flow Cytometry through BD FACS Canto and FACSAria III instruments. Each has a comprehensive array of lasers and filters to support all commonly used applications and fluorophores.

The facility has also recently commissioned the first Fluidigm Helios mass cytometer in the UK. This ground breaking technology combines cell sorting and mass spectrometry to allow analysis of extremely complex cell populations that would prove challenging to conventional FACS techniques.

To accomodate a growing number of users wanting to isolate cells or populations for downstream Omics analysis, the facility also contains an LMD 7000 Laser Capture Microscope.
