Personal Statement

I completed my PhD at the National Chemical Laboratory (Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research), Pune, India in biotechnology/synthetic biology of plant biosynthetic pathways aiming towards the synthesis of drugs. Following my PhD, I moved to the UK (Liverpool) to take up the opportunity to work on Heparan sulfate (HS) sulfotransferases in Prof. D. G. Fernig’s group in 2017. My first postdoc project aims to produce ‘tool compounds’ or inhibitors of heparan sulfate sulfotransferases in Alzheimer’s disease, which represents my shift into the world of proteoglycans.
