Liverpool Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Citizens’ Jury

What is a Citizens’ Jury?

A Citizens' Jury is a method of deliberation developed by the Centre for New Democratic Processes where a small group of people (between 12 and 24), representative of the demographics of a given area, comes together to deliberate on a specific issue.

The AMR jury was recruited from across the Liverpool City Region and was selected to broadly represent a mix of Liverpool residents in terms of age, gender, ethnic group, educational attainment, employment status, and geographical spread within the Liverpool City Region.

Jurors met and questioned key expert witnesses to give them insight into the local and worldwide impacts of AMR. They were also given an overview of a potential research programme that could help tackle AMR. Jurors then had time to debate their views, concerns and ambitions regarding AMR and the potential research programme. Jurors’ views were recorded fully in the Citizen Jury Reports.
