In 2011/12 the University expects to produce more than 40,500 tonnes of carbon emissions as a result of its fossil fuel (scope 1 carbon emissions) and electricity (scope 2 carbon emissions) requirements

As one of the main greenhouse gases contributing to climate change, alongside the financial cost now being associated with these emissions via the EU Emissions Training System scheme and Carbon Reduction Commitment, the University is determined to reduce this level through demand reduction, efficiencies and the installation of low carbon technologies.

This section provides you with information on how carbon is produced, the impacts associated with emissions, how these impacts can be managed, what the University is doing to manage its carbon emissions, as well as helpful facts and tips to help you reduce your own carbon footprint at work.
