Entry Requirements

A level requirementsABB, providing the applicant is studying at least one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Computing. (this is the typical entry requirement) for this course.
Subject requirementsIf one of the above subjects is not being studied then a higher offer of AAB may be made to applicants studying alternative science/technical based subjects.
For applicants from England: Where a science has been taken at A level (Chemistry, Biology or Physics), a pass in the Science practical of each subject will be required.
BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary DiplomaAcceptable at grade Distinction (any subject) alongside AB at A level. A Levels must include one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Computing or Computer Science or BTEC must be in a relevant Mathematical subject.
BTEC Level 3 DiplomaDistinction Distinction in BTEC considered alongside A Level grade B. A Level must include one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Computing or Computer Science or BTEC must be in a relevant Mathematical subject.
BTEC Level 3 National Extended DiplomaD*DD in a relevant diploma (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, IT).
International Baccalaureate33 overall including 5 in Higher Level Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science. Alternatively, 35 overall including 5 in Standard Level Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science if not taken at a Higher Level.
Irish Leaving CertificateSuccessfully complete Irish Leaving Certificate with grades H1, H2, H2, H2, H3, H3, including H2 or above in Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science.
Scottish Higher/Advanced HigherPass Scottish Advanced Highers with grades ABB including at least one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Computing.
Welsh Baccalaureate AdvancedAcceptable at grade B or above alongside AB at A level including at least one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Computing. Alternatively, acceptable at grade B or above alongside AA at A Level (any science/technical based subjects).
Cambridge Pre-U DiplomaD3 in Cambridge Pre U Principal Subject is accepted as equivalent to A-Level grade A M2 in Cambridge Pre U Principal Subject is accepted as equivalent to A-Level grade B Global Perspectives and Short Courses are not accepted.
AccessConsidered if taking a relevant subject. 45 Level 3 credits at Distinction, including 15 Level 3 credits in Mathematical or Computer Science subjects is required. GCSE English and Mathematics grade C/grade 4 or above also required.

Extended Project QualificationApplicants who offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and meet our A Level offer criteria will be made the standard offer, plus an alternative offer. This will be at one A Level grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ, for example the offer would be ABB or BBB plus A in the EPQ.
