Step-by-step guide for UK/EU students
If you are a UK/EU student, read on for details of what happens after you submit an application through UCAS.
September: UCAS Cycle Opens
Successful students start to receive offers through UCAS. An unconditional offer means that you have already satisfied the entry requirements; a conditional offer gives the minimum grades you need to achieve in your forthcoming examinations and any other conditions you must meet.
November onwards: Interviews
Some departments hold interviews prior to making any offer. Should you be required to attend an interview, an invitation will be included in your offer pack.
December to March: UCAS Visit Days
These are a great opportunity for you to visit your department, check out the facilities, and talk to lecturers and current students.
February: UCAS Extra Opens
If you apply before the deadline but have not secured a suitable place (if you have been rejected by all choices and/or declined offers) from between mid-February and 30th June, you may apply through UCAS Extra.
March to April: Accepting Offers
Respond to all your university offers choosing one as FIRM and one as INSURANCE by the date given to you by UCAS. You will be invited to apply for University accommodation on receipt of your response to our offer. You should also apply for financial assessment during this period.
May to July: Exam season
Examinations take place.
July to August: Non A-Level exam results released
Non A-Level students should send a copy of their results directly to the Undergraduate Admissions Team. Once we have made a decision you can check your status on UCAS Track.
Mid-August: A-Level results released
Examination results are released in mid August. Shortly before the results are published we’ll contact you with details of our confirmation services.
Your confirmation status will be shown on UCAS Track on the day you receive your A level results. If you do not meet the entrance requirements, you may still be offered a place so please check your situation by calling our dedicated confirmation line. You may also ask to be considered for another course if you do not meet the requirements for your original choice but still wish to come here.
September: Welcome to your University!
You can join our student community at the Halls of Residence from around mid-September. Once here, you can also enjoy the entertainment on offer at Welcome Week, a great opportunity to make new friends before the term starts.
