Entry requirements

The programme is open to graduates from degree courses with a substantial quantitative methods content (specifically statistics and/or computer science elements). We also encourage applications from health-related professions or those with non-standard qualifications, who will be considered on their individual merits.

Some of the optional modules included in the programme require programming skills of a standard commensurate with an individual who has completed a first degree in computer science.

The normal minimum entry requirement for this programme is a UK upper second-class degree or equivalent overseas degree, together with an acceptable English language qualification (IELTS 7 or equivalent, with no band less than 6.5).

International qualifications

Applications from international students are welcome. International qualifications will be evaluated in line with the National Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) guidelines

If you meet the academic requirements of the course but do not have the required level of English Language, it is possible for you to come and study at the University on one of our Pre-sessional EAP programmes.  Please see the English Language Centre website for further information about these programmes;

If you require additional English Language training during your study, the University is able to provide tuition and arrange IELTS tests through its English Language Centre, details of which are available at

Please be advised that TOEFL is no longer classified by UK Visas and Immigration as a Secure English Language Test (SELT). However, at the current time the university is continuing to accept TOEFL, at the required level, for entry on to Undergraduate and Postgraduate academic programmes.
