Who pays for the training costs of the apprenticeship?

Training costs are covered by levy funds in your Digital Account. Non-levy payers can access the co-investment model. 

Who recruits the apprentice?

Employers are responsible for posting their Degree Apprenticeship opportunities and ultimately deciding who they want for the position

How can I be sure the apprentice will learn skills and knowledge relevant to my business?

Research and innovation are at the heart of the University's teaching so you can be sure that our students receive up-to-date skills and knowledge relevant to your sector.

Are there limitations on who can undertake a Degree Apprenticeship?

Degree Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16 so while they are primarily attractive to school leavers as new recruits to your business they are equally open to those existing staff members in your company that you’re looking to upskill.

What courses are available via the Degree Apprenticeship route at the University of Liverpool?

We currently offer the MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner programme.

How much time will the apprentice spend at work and at university?

Learners will spend 80% of their time in your workplace and 20% of their time studying for their Degree Apprenticeship offsite with the University of Liverpool.

How long does the apprenticeship take to complete?

Apprentices will typically complete their degree within four to five years.

Do I need to pay a wage to the Degree Apprentice?

Yes, they will receive a wage, holiday pay, pension and any other benefits that your employees receive. The Degree Apprenticeship funding you receive from the Government cannot be used to pay wages or any other benefits, it can only be used towards training costs. Apprentices must be an employee on the first day of their apprenticeship and as a minimum at least be paid a wage consistent with the law for the time they are in work and in off-the-job training.

How can we be sure to recruit quality candidates for our Degree Apprenticeships?

All Degree Apprentices need to meet our entry requirements and high standards just like any other student who chooses to study with us.
