Research students

Our Research Community

We're home to an engaged research community which organises regular events and offers plenty of opportunities for collaboration. A thriving community such as ours can help you to get support from other researchers and meet the challenges of life as a postgraduate researcher.

We offer a number of initiatives to help you meet other postgraduate research students and enhance your research and student experience.

Postgraduate Researcher week

Postgraduate Researcher week runs three times a year and is the ideal opportunity for you to meet up with other research students from across campus and share your experiences. A variety of sessions run throughout the week including:

  • Welcome talks
  • Training and professional development sessions
  • Interactive workshops
  • Networking events.

My time as a PhD student at the University of Liverpool has been an incredible learning experience.

Conferences and events

Our students regularly organise and schedule conferences and poster days, and there are regular events such as research seminars and PhD showcases. The University's research departments host a variety of lectures and workshops, providing a great opportunity for you to hear speakers from both your or other disciplines, talking about their subjects in a mostly informal setting.

The Liverpool Guild of Students also support a number of postgraduate societies across the University which you can join and get involved in.
