HLC MA in Chinese-English Translating and Interpreting Scholarships

The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures is pleased to announce five scholarships for international students wishing to pursue the MA in Chinese-English Translating and Interpreting in 2023.

Amount:

  • Two £10,000 scholarships
  • Three £5,000 scholarships

Open to:

International students studying the MA in Chinese-English Translating and Interpreting.

Applicants should have a good undergraduate degree (a 2:1 honours degree or equivalent).

Applicants with English as a second language should have a good IELTS score of at least 7.0 overall (with no less than 6.5 in any sub-score) for admission to the MA programme. Applicants with Chinese as a second language should have proficiency in Chinese (equivalent to the skills of HSK level 5).

Key information

Applications will be ranked and selected according to academic merit and suitability (e.g. relevant experience).

All scholarships will be awarded after formal registration at the University and will take the form of a fee waiver. Please note: these scholarships cannot be combined with any other scholarships or bursaries provided by the University.


How to apply

Applications that will be considered for the scholarships should include the following:

- Application form
- CV
- Relevant transcript and qualifications
- A personal statement (500 words) that outlines the applicant's strengths and suitability for the MA, including (where appropriate) relevant translation and/or interpreting experience
- A 300 word supporting statement on outlining why you should be awarded this scholarship sent to Dr Ting Guo at ting.guo@liverpool.ac.uk.
Any other relevant supporting documents.

All applicants who meet the entry requirements and include the above documentation with their application will be automatically considered. Please note, however, that the deadline of 31st January 2023 applies. Those who apply for the MA after this date will not be considered for a scholarship.
