Programme: MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management

Nationality: Mexican

Why did you choose MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management at the University of Liverpool?

After gaining a few years experience as an employee for international companies such as Bank of America and IBM with roles related to finance, I decided it was time for me to shift career paths into a more creative environment. MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management offers an innovative focus towards entrepreneurial theory and practices in both large and small firms. I have always had interest towards starting my own business as well, however I did not feel confident enough to start my own venture. My decision was based on the belief that this programme would offer both an opportunity to reshape my career into a more innovative and creative professional environment as well as to potentially start a business of my own. The fact that The University of Liverpool Management School is AACSB accredited was also an important factor towards my decision

What have you enjoyed most about the programme so far?

The programme has covered a wide range of subjects, from topics as general as research methods to as specific as entrepreneurial decision-making and negotiation. The lecturers are experts in the fields they teach, which creates an atmosphere in which questions are encouraged and often answered based in their own empirical experience. This makes learning processes a lot easier.

Are you involved in any clubs or societies? If so, how do they add to your overall university experience and what skills can you gain?

One of my biggest passions is music and I have been playing guitar for over 11 years now. I joined the band society in which I was able to find friends who share the same passion and play music together as we get access to a band practice room! This has definitely been a source of well-needed joy and leisure during stressful times as an international student based far away from home.

What do you like most about the City of Liverpool and why?  What fun things have you experienced since being in Liverpool?

Liverpool is a relatively small city in which there is always something going on for all kinds of interests. From museums and art expositions to great nightlife, sports events and unique restaurants. I like the fact that I can move all around the place riding my bicycle, which makes life a lot more active and cost effective.

Also, since I have in Liverpool I have had the opportunity to travel within the UK and around Europe in between my studies, which has enriched my international student experience even more.

What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to seek for internship or work experience opportunities within the UK and potentially other countries in Europe. I am confident that the learning and experiences I have gained during this programme will be very valuable for me to find new professional opportunities in a near future.
