Foundation Certificate

The Foundation Certificate is a one-year programme delivered on the University’s campus. It is specifically designed to prepare international students for an undergraduate degree course at the University of Liverpool.


Guaranteed entry

Successful completion of the Foundation Certificate to the required level guarantees your place on your chosen degree at the University of Liverpool. The level you will need to meet will be noted on your offer letter.


World-class facilities

The Foundation Certificate is delivered by the University of Liverpool International College (UoLIC), which is centrally located on the main University campus, giving you access to the University's full range of facilities.

Essential skills

The Foundation Certificate is an excellent introduction to studying your chosen subject in the UK. Alongside the required subject-specific classes, the Certificate offers coaching in essential study skills including essay writing, making presentations and academic English.


Excellent support

Our Foundation Certificate programmes are delivered in small classes, with a minimum of approximately 20 hours a week spent in the classroom. You'll also have regular meetings with your Learning Support Tutor, who will help you develop the study skills required to progress to an undergraduate degree.
