Role: West Coast Digital Journalist/Associate Producer for CBS News
Living in Los Angeles, CA

Why did you choose the MA Politics & Mass Media programme at Liverpool?

I chose Liverpool because I really appreciated the focus of the programme. Unlike other programs in the U.S. or elsewhere in the UK, this course in Politics and Mass Media was targeted and exactly what I was looking for in a Masters program.

Which aspects of the course do you think have been most beneficial to your career development?

What I really appreciated about the programme was its focus on theory and the interdependent relationship media organizations and political systems have. We looked at different variations of that relationship across the world and after covering the U.S. election intimately over the last 18 months, my studies at Liverpool were indispensable to my understanding of the role "we" the media played in the outcome.

Can you describe your current role?

After covering the 2016 presidential election for CBS News as a Digital Journalist where I was embedded with several campaigns, I am now working out of our Los Angeles Bureau in a similar capacity. From LA I will be deployed to cover breaking news stories across the west coast (as well as potentially Central America and Asia) reporting, filming and producing for CBS News.

What is your favourite memory of Liverpool?

My favorite memory of Liverpool would have to be playing on the club basketball team. It was a great group of guys and an excellent way to see more of the UK when I was there. I am also really enjoyed working as a Student Ambassador for the University. It was rewarding to help those students coming from the U.S. Canada, Australia and other countries to Liverpool to study.
