Entry requirements: which qualifications do you need?

Pathway programmes for applicants from Bangladesh

Many countries have a different education system to that of the UK, so you may need further preparation before you can start university here. Pathway programmes provide an entry route for international students whose qualifications do not meet our entry requirements.

After successfully completing your Foundation Certificate or pre-Master’s programme, you're guaranteed a place on your chosen course. Pathway programmes are offered through the University of Liverpool International College.


Higher Secondary Certificate  Candidates who have successfully completed their HSC examinations in Bangladesh will need to complete the approved Foundation Certificate at University of Liverpool International College before they can be considered for direct entry to undergraduate programmes. 
A-levels Applicants who have completed their A-level exams with a minimum of three A-levels will be considered for direct entry to undergraduate programmes.
International Baccalaureate Applicants who have completed their International Baccalaureate diploma will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes. Required scores and subjects vary from course to course and details can be found on our course pages.
2 year bachelor's degree Applicants with a good 2 year bachelor's degree from a recognised institution in Bangladesh will be considered for direct entry to our undergraduate programmes.

Postgraduate Taught

Holders of a 4 year bachelor's  Applicants with a 4 year Bachelor of Engineering/ science degree from a recognised institution in Bangladesh will be considered for direct admission to postgraduate taught programmes. The minimum GPA should be 3.2/4. 
Holders of a 2 or 3 year bachelor's followed by a master's Applicants with a 2 or 3 year Bachelors deg followed by a master's degree from recognised institutions in Bangladesh will be considered for direct admission to our master's programmes. The minimum GPA should be 3.2/4.

Postgraduate Research

Academic  Students considering a research programme would normally be expected to have a Masters degree and have achieved good results (1st class or 60%+) before progressing onto a research programme.

English language requirements

To study at the University of Liverpool, you’ll need to demonstrate you can speak English. If you need a visa to study in the UK, evidence of competency in English is required to secure your visa.
