Progressing to the University of Liverpool

The information below will help you understand what you need to do in order to confirm and accept your place.

Accepting your place

UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) requires the University to ensure that you are going to take up your place on your University programme before we can act as your immigration sponsor. The rules are the same for all UK institutions. For you, this means that you need to be sure about which course you are going to progress on to before accepting your place.

Before your final examinations, you will receive an acceptance form which must be completed in full and returned to the University of Liverpool International College by the deadline date. It is important that you only complete and return this form if you are intending to continue with your studies at the University of Liverpool. The form will ask you to confirm details that we need in order to request a Certificate of Acceptance for Studies from the UKVI for you. It is really important that the details we submit for the CAS are the same as those on your passport; otherwise, you may be refused a visa.

Unconditional Offer letters and CAS statements

If you meet the progression conditions to the University of Liverpool and have submitted your acceptance form, we will email your unconditional offer letter and CAS as soon as possible after receipt of your exam results from the College. We will endeavour to email both documents to you as quickly as possible thereby allowing you plenty of time to apply for your visa. Please note that we only send documentation to your Liverpool email account, and that we will not be issuing hard copies of the email or CAS.

If you need to re-sit your examinations and you are successful, we will email your Unconditional Offer letter and CAS statement as quickly as possible after the resit results are received.

Please note that if you are undertaking resits in September, you will only have a limited amount of time to apply for your visa and arrive at the University in time to start your studies with us, so it is even more important that you have all your other documents prepared in advance.

Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS)

The Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) is a Government verification scheme for International students. ATAS is compulsory for ALL International (Non-EU) offer holders who are applying for a programme that requires ATAS clearance. This includes current students who wish to change programmes from a non-ATAS programme to an ATAS programme, student visitors and study abroad students.

This will affect you if you are from outside the UK and you plan to undertake an undergraduate integrated Master’s programme (MEng/MMath or MPhys) or postgraduate taught Master’s study in any of the disciplines listed here.

If you are progressing on to a programme that requires ATAS clearance, you will receive an ATAS statement by email with important information which you will need to apply for your ATAS certificate.  If you think this ATAS verification scheme applies to you and you have not received an ATAS statement from us, please contact us for clarification.
It is your responsibility to apply for an ATAS certificate prior to applying for your visa.

If your programme requires ATAS clearance and you do not have an ATAS certificate, your Entry Clearance (Visa) application will be refused.
