City Information

One of only three city-states left in the world, Singapore is an island country in Southeast Asia. Since independence it has become a global commerce, finance and transport hub. It has a tropical rainforest climate with no distinctive seasons, uniform temperature, high humidity and abundant rainfall. Singapore ranks highly in education, healthcare, quality of life, personal safety and has the 3rd highest GDP per capita of all UN countries. Sustainability is key here, it has a dream of being a City in a Garden, which is being achieved by the development of sky gardens and botanic gardens that look more like ecosystems than business hubs.

University Information

Founded in 1905 as a Medical College, the National University of Singapore is now the oldest and largest university in the country. It is ranked as the 22nd best university globally and 1st in Singapore and Asia according to the Times Higher Education Word University Rankings. Singapore currently has over 28,000 students and over 5,000 academic staff members that cover 16 faculties from music to medicine. The university has several larger research institutes as well as some niche areas such as bioengineering, bio imaging, tissue engineering and nanotechnology.
