When To Refer

Student Services have produced a guide to help all staff to offer the best possible support to students. When To Refer outlines several common scenarios that students often raise with staff, suggesting appropriate responses and specifying the most useful service to refer the student to, as well as what happens next.

The guide is for any member of staff that might be approached by a student. Roles that the guide may be particularly useful to include: academic advisers, personal tutors, PhD supervisors, student experience staff, student-facing administrative staff, Residential Advisers, Halls staff, building maintenance staff and any member of staff involved in teaching or supervising students.

You can download a copy of the guide from the link on the right of this page. Hard copies are also available and distribution is being organised: in the meantime, if you would like a hard copy you can drop into the Alsop Building on University Square and ask at reception.
