Peter Woolridge

I am a PhD student in the sedimentology and stratigraphy research group at the University of Liverpool undertaking a CASE project with Conwy Valley Systems Limited. My research focuses on understanding and explaining basin scale sedimentary architecture and intra-basin facies distribution.

A large part of my project will be attempting to apply self-similarity to large scale basin deposit thereby, producing a new model for basinal architecture within Accommodation V Sediment Supply theory.  My primary field area will be the Central Appalachian Basin, Kentucky, USA.

Prior to undertaking my PhD I obtained a first class MGeol degree from the University of Leicester. Master research project focused upon  Tournasian fluvial deposits and using them as proxies for early evolution of  Lower Carboniferous vegetation.
