Franziska Elsner-Gearing

I am a DTP EAO PhD student working out of the University of Manchester, with Chester Zoo as a CASE partner. I’m an evolutionary biologist with a keen interest in applications of evolutionary theory in conservation. My work aims to quantify the genetic diversity of the captive population of Critically Endangered Eastern Black Rhino held in European zoos, with a view to informing meta-population management strategies and identifying individuals for translocations.
