Transferring to a different course
You may feel that you have chosen the wrong course and want to transfer to another programme of study, within the same School, or into an entirely new area of study.
Things to consider before you make the decision to Transfer
You will need to take into account any possible financial issues that may arise if you do change your programme. Before you make your decision, you must contact the Student Loans Company if you receive funding from them, or any sponsor who assists you with payment of fees or maintenance funding. You can also speak with the Money Advice and Guidance Team in Student Services and the Careers and Employability Service for further advice.
If you intend to transfer to a different course of study before completing your current course and your current visa is not long enough to complete it, you will need to apply for a new visa before the transfer can take place. In the majority of cases, this visa application will need to take place outside the UK.
Sometimes when students receive their examination results and are not making good progress, the School may recommend that you change to a different course. When you receive your results it is important to keep in mind that, if changing course is a recommendation that is given to you, you would need to plan a trip home to extend your visa.
As part of transfer process you will need to visit the International Advice and Guidance Team for advice, you will be informed when to do this. Further information can be found on our Student Services website.
