About the Donors

Tung Foundation

The Tung Foundation, founded by the late CY Tung, father of Liverpool graduates, CH Tung (BEng Hons Marine Engineering 1960, Hon LLD 1997) and CC Tung (BEng Hons Mechanical Engineering 1964, Hon LLD 2009), supports social, cultural and educational causes.

HKGA

The University of Liverpool Graduate Association (Hong Kong) scholarships were established in 1997 following a generous donation from an anonymous benefactor. The objectives of the scholarships are to promote educational exchange and academic research respectively, between the University of Liverpool and residents of Hong Kong SAR and the People's Republic of China.

Postgraduate Scholarships:

Hong Kong Graduate Association Postgraduate Scholarship

The Hong Kong Graduate Association post-graduate scholarship is worth £5000 (with a maximum of 4 awards annually) and is awarded to students from Hong Kong and Mainland China who can prove academic excellence and have been admitted to pursue full time studies at the University of Liverpool.

Yu Postgraduate Scholarship

The Yu post-graduate scholarship is worth £10,000 and is awarded annually to students from Hong Kong and Mainland China who can prove academic excellence and have been admitted to pursue full time studies at the University of Liverpool.

Tung Doctoral Scholarship

The Tung PhD scholarship is worth £10,000 and is awarded annually to students from Hong Kong and Mainland China who can prove academic excellence and have been admitted to pursue full time studies at the University of Liverpool.

Application:

The scholarships are open to candidates are or will be studying full time at the main University of Liverpool Campus. Students at other sites are sadly not eligible. Candidates are required to have made an application to study at the University of Liverpool's main campus.

Current scholarship recipients

Current scholarship recipients are to submit all the following documents to giving@liverpool.ac.uk.

  • Detailed report of your progress during this academic year
  • Supporting letter from academic supervisor
  • Academic CV
  • 500+ word statement about your year and your goals for returning to Hong Kong or mainland China

New applicants

New applicants are to submit all the following documents to giving@liverpool.ac.uk.

  • 500 word application statement including evidence of academic excellence and achievement and why you feel you will make a difference on returning to China after completion of your studies
  • Relevant transcripts
  • Current students in PG study will need to provide a supporting letter from their academic supervisor
  • Academic CV

Please submit these documents saved as PDFs with your 9 digit student number as part of the file name, e.g. SupervisorLetter123456789.pdf.  Applications without this number cannot be considered, sadly. Send the application by email to giving@liverpool.ac.uk.

The deadline for receipt of the applications, including all supporting materials, is 31 May 2018.
