Who are we?
The University of Liverpool Women’s Football Club is a fantastic club which is strengthening and improving each year. The club is comprised of two 11 a side teams, two futsal teams, and a newly formed Sunday league team. Season 2018/19 was a huge success for LUWFC, and history was even made!
1st and 2nd Team
Our first team had an outstanding season in 2A whereby they topped the table, without a defeat at home all season. After a staggering 83 goals across all competitions, the 1st team were promoted to 1A and also cup finalists for the first time ever.
The second team also had a tremendous season. Adopting a different style of play, the improvement across the team was phenomenal and they finished the season comfortably in 3rd place in the competitive 3A League.
Sunday League Team
Our Sunday League team provides a great platform for beginners. It allows for all people to get involved, and become part of a competitive, though relatively relaxed team. We love to see the sport and the club growing through the integration of new and enthusiastic people, so please come along and try it out.
We also have an outstanding futsal team. Futsal is similar to five a side but with a smaller low-bounce ball which favours ball control, skill and passing.
The team has completed an amazing turnaround from last seasons near relegation to this season being unbeaten champions of 1A, and reaching the national trophy final at St Georges Park. These achievements were recognised by the AU, whereby the team was awarded the most improved team of the year. Following the recent success, LUWFC are entering two futsal teams into the BUCS league for the next season.
LUWFC also has a great social aspect to get involved in; our social team organises weekly socials and monthly AU nights. This provides the opportunity for great friendships to be formed, and amazing memories to be made.
The highlight of the year is undoubtedly Tour, an unforgettable, affordable, sports team experience! We guarantee it will be one of the best weeks of your life.
So come join LUWFC, whatever your ability there’s room for everyone! It’s a great way to have fun whilst keeping fit. Joining the club really will be the best decision you make at University. Don’t miss out!
