Strength, flexibility, agility, coordination and balance. Gymnastics improves all of these, and makes a great foundation for other sporting disciplines, from Trampolining to Martial Arts. We train at the Park Road centre, a world-class gymnastics facility home to Liverpool’s own Olympic medallist Beth Tweddle. Having retired from elite competition in 2013, Beth has since returned to coach one of the university’s sessions.
The club was founded in 2011 and is open to members of all abilities aged 18 and over. Whether you’re trying the sport for the first time or have trained your whole life, we have coaching and competition to suit you. The team travels across the country, last year attending the Loughborough and Birmingham Opens and national BUCS Championships. 2018 marked the first time in its 132-year history that gymnastics was included in the Christie Cup, and the first year Liverpool were crowned champions since 1991.
We boast an active social side, attending every AU night, the Winter Ball and annual Awards Dinner, alongside hosting our own Christmas meal and summer BBQ. Our social secretary has lots more in the pipeline for 2018/19!
Whether you’re looking to socialise and meet new people, win medals or just maintain some sanity in the madness of university, our club has something to offer everybody with a love of gymnastics and a good time.
