Strength, flexibility, agility, coordination and balance. Gymnastics improves all of these, and makes a great foundation for other sporting disciplines, from Trampolining to Martial Arts. We train at the Park Road centre, a world-class gymnastics facility home to Liverpool’s own Olympic medallist Beth Tweddle. Having retired from elite competition in 2013, Beth has since returned to coach one of the university’s sessions.
The club was founded in 2011 and is open to members of all abilities aged 18 and over. Whether you’re trying the sport for the first time or have trained your whole life, we have coaching and competition to suit you. The team travels across the country, last year attending the Loughborough, Nottingham and Birmingham Opens. For the first time this year we will be taking part in the University Gymnastics Cup, winning points from each competition to take the crown at the end of year. We hope to do the same in the annual Christie Cup and national BUCS Championships!
We boast an active social side, attending every AU night, the Winter Ball and annual Awards Dinner, alongside hosting our own Christmas meal and summer BBQ. Our social secretary has lots more in the pipeline for 2019/20!
Whether you’re looking to socialise and meet new people, win medals or just maintain some sanity in the madness of university, our club has something to offer everybody with a love of gymnastics and a good time.
