The Liverpool University Dancesport club (LUDC) is an increasingly popular club in the University of Liverpool. Members learn and practise skills in Ballroom and Latin American dancing.

As a club we meet twice a week and provide three classes:

  • A beginners lesson

  • A novice/intermediate lesson

  • An improvers lesson, which concentrates on technique and is aimed at any ability

All our lessons are open to everyone; UoL students, students from other Liverpool universities, alumni and ex-students; and cater for every ability. If you’ve never danced before, or have experience dancing before coming to university then come along, there is something for everyone!

Beginners are taught four of the most popular dances - the Waltz & Quickstep (Ballroom) and the Cha Cha Cha & Jive (Latin). As members progress in capability, other dances are introduced including the Tango, Foxtrot, Samba, Rumba and more.

Lessons are held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and this year we are located at Dolphin Dance Studios, Devon Street, which is only a 10 minute walk from UoL campus. Dancesport is very affordable; each weekly lesson is £3.50 - with additional fees for those who compete as team members.

We provide the brilliant opportunity to join the University of Liverpool Dance Team. Being part of the Team is a brilliant way to display and build upon your dance skills, whilst having loads of fun at the same time! We welcome individuals of all levels, from complete beginners with no experience to advanced dancers. Last year was a successful year for LUDC with many couples from beginner to advanced level regularly reaching the finals.

We regularly organise fun socials, and hold various events throughout the year, from casual, chilled out film nights to attending dance showcases. We also annually host the very popular Strictly Come Dancing event at the University of Liverpool’s Guild of Students.

As well as this, once a month all of the University sports teams get together and dress up for AU Night, which is always entertaining! This all adds to the fun and excitement of being a part of a University Sports team. Look out for posters around the Guild when you arrive and visit us at the Welcome Fair!

Remember to join us on our Facebook group for all of our updates, and have a look at our website for more details about the club and to meet the members of our committee.

We look forward to welcoming you and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us!
