There are plenty of opportunities to play basketball at the University of Liverpool, we have some great facilities and whether you want to play competitively or socially you will be able to get involved.
The basketball squad as a whole are a team willing to work hard and often reap the rewards that this brings. The 1st team will be competing in the BUCS 1A league, after finishing first in the BUCS 2A league last year. With this, the club received the award of the most improved club at the AU awards night, which we look to use as motivation to carry on to succeed as a club. Along with the BUCS league, the team also competes in the Christie Cup which is a tournament played against Manchester and Leeds Universities, and the Varsity match played against LJMU. The 2nd team are competing in the BUCS 4A league which we are looking to push our way up and into the higher leagues. Our club is full of friendly, talented, and diverse guys that are all looking to have fun whilst playing but are always happy to work hard for themselves and for the team to progress and improve.
The 1st team is very successful winning the BUCS Northern Conference Cup and coming 2nd in their league last year. This year they are hoping to win in their BUCS league. We also have a 2nd team so that more players are able to play competitively whilst at university, competing in BUCS 3A league with the hopes of advancing to the 2A league this year. Whether you’ve been playing for years or have never picked up a basketball, come along to our club as we welcome all abilities. We also hold socials within the club allowing a friendly atmosphere both on and off the court!
