Staff Sport

University of Liverpool staff organise a number of football, cricket and golf events throughout the year. In addition, the staff squash team are well established members of the North West Counties Squash League.


Since 2011 a Staff Football team have played other University staff teams from Leeds, JMU, Hope and Chester. To date the record reads played seven, won five and lost two. Led by Dominic Ventre (School of Law and Social Justice) and Christian Keegan (Human Resources) they are looking new players. Age is no barrier nor is lack of skill!

The Staff Squash team have a long history at the University and have been members of the North West Counties Squash League  for over 50 years.

Matches in the NWCSL take place on Thursday evenings during the season September to April. We also have an informal club night after work on Tuesdays (5-6.30pm) where new players are always welcome.

We have a staff netball session every Friday in the Sports Centre running from 1pm-2pm. This is open to staff of any standard, entry is just £1!


Staff Golf Days were resurrected in November 2007 and continue to go from strength to strength. For more information on golf at the University please contact Stuard Wade


The 53rd Staff tour to Cambridgeshire took place in late July 2014 in glorious weather. Five matches were played against our traditional rivals and for the first time in many years we completed a clean sweep beating all our rivals.

The sun shone and the wickets tumbled.
